From the 27th to the 29th of January 2012, the ‘addicts’ of streetwear fashion are back in Barcelona. How? The Brandery, the winter edition of urban fashion. This show for professionals, bron a few years ago, is a novelty because it’s not an exclusive show for stylists, brands and buyers; the public have their dosage of protagonism and they’re invited to actively participate. Fashion shows of prestigious brands take place in the original catwalk placed in the middle of the central pavillion (8) of the Fira de Montjuïc complex. Paying a minimum price, the visitors can stay for the afternoon in the bars and the chill out spaces eating tapas and enjoying the music of the most famous DJs in the city. Exhibitions of clothes, where they develop the new concepts of urban fashion, made for the numerous style and design schools of the city, will also be presented.

The show is born this year under the concept ‘Love Your Way’, an invitation for people to create their own dressing style.

The numerous offers of fashion, music and design that are found at The Brandery offer a wide range of ideas and suggestions for all those who are looking for a new style, both personally and professionally.

Like in the past edition, The Brandery will develop in two areas: a space dedicated to the exhibitions of the brands and the professionals (with speed dating to make business) and another called ‘Xperience Brandtown Moda’, open to the public so that the visitors can attend the fashion shows (by stylists such as Custo Barcelona), listen to the live music of the Sonar artists or interact in person with the most prestigious brands.

The Brandery is unmissable for any person who is looking for inspiration for their style. The new motto, ‘Love your way’, indicates the need of each individual to identify a unique and personal image and style through fashion or art. To allow a bigger intake of public, the event will open its doors for the first time from Friday to Sunday.

Fashion and trends mix in the showpiece event of winter in Barcelona. In the previous edition, in July, with the help of Música Avanzada (Sonar), artists such as Ladytron, Nouvelle Vague, Hercules & Love Affair, Delorean Azari & III and Carlos Jean attended it, which attracted many fans. While the catwalk at The Brandery offers a great fashion show in movement, another focal point for the visitors is the ‘OTSF’ exhibition which presents initiatives of the most important design schools in Barcelona. Also, a space dedicated for thinking invites people to attend conferences by fashions gurus that offer a laboratory of ideas and explain the trends for the 2013 season.

Like many other nice stories, the Custos story begins with a fabulous trip. He and his brother David, went on a motorcycle trip to California in the late seventies and he fell in love with the surfer fashion, especially their shirts! At this time the fashion in Spain was not very popular.

When he returned to Barcelona, Custo style born and he opened his first store in 1996: patchwork, stripes, bright and fine fabrics like silk, flowers, Japanese or Hindu iconography … the Catalan designer’s imagination has no limits. You’ll be amazed with his modern and bold graphics and with his unprecedented combinations.

Young, dynamic and innovative as Barcelona is, the brand achieved global fame and received many awards such as the best Spanish brand 2009 and the “Barcelona És Moda 2008 Award”. International stars like Brad Pitt, Claudia Schiffer and Penelope Cruz also admire Custo-Barcelona style. Even his creations appeared on some TV shows as Friends and Sex in the City, lured by its fresh and luxurious creations. During the Fashion Week in New York, Custo presented his new Spring-Summer 2010 collection, whose main concepts are the movement and the lightness of the materials, so he called the parade the “Air Show”. Other countries have been left amazed with his designs, like Italy, that has awarded him with the Fashion Oscar or Kore, or France, that gave him the award to the best year’s designer according to the Marie-Claire magazine. There is even a perfume for men, the Custo Man fragance! Today, there are over 3,000 Custo-Barcelona outlets worldwide and more than 55 shops. In Madrid you will find nine Custo boutiques to have fun.

Many repeat their visit and it is the most important street and urban wear trade fair in this particular sector.

Each year thousands of people visit the Bread & Butter to witness the recent trends in this sector of fashion. The Bread & Butter trade fair, in fact originated in Berlin, but since a few years ago, Barcelona has played host city because of the incredible success of its first edition. Since then its success has been continued and is growing.

At the Bread & Butter trade fair expect to find a myriad of brands and labels: A-Style, Pepe Jeans, Custo, DNKY, Converse, Onitsuka, Reply, G-Star, Calvin Klein … among others. Nevertheless, Bread & Butter is a space dedicated to the art and fashion world in general. The site becomes a place full of activities and performances that will leave you begging for more: Fashion shows, conferences, shows, exhibitions, flea markets, live music, private parties and many more surprises!

Also, visitors can sample the delights of celebrity chef Philippe Lemoine which come directly from the restaurant Borchard which is located in Mitte, one of the most alternative neighbourhoods of Berlin.
