Primavera Sound 2010
May 17th, 2010 by apartmentblogger
As spring approaches in Barcelona, festival season kicks of, and this year it opens with Primavera Sound. As soon as the lineup is published in early spring, people begin to wonder if thy are up for living three days full of music, friends, drinks and relentless sun in the Parc del Forum, where the sun seems to shine brighter than in other parts of the city. This Spring Festival is a cityfestival and so it has a different vibe compared to typical camping festivals. Many friendships and love affairs arise in these festivals.

I suppose that not showering for three days and spending the night being surrounded by drunken revelers brings together a lot of people. Not so at Primavera Sound, perhaps why i´ve always thought that this festival is much more “sophisticated”. It gives people not just as an opportunity to enjoy the infinite groups playing on its huge stage, but also is a huge parade for all the local and foreign fashionistas, who come mainly to give lessons in style.
Primavera Sound stands out from the rest in part because of its undeniably exquisite programming, which blends the best of the big name bands on the alternative circuit, with lesser-known musical gems, new groups and some local groups. In these last nine years and, obviously thanks to corporate sponsorship, it has become a huge monster, with an estimated audience of 75,000 people each year and an ever better lineup. This year the list seems almost surreal: we await performances, and never in your wildest dreams could imagine so many great groups sharing the same stage in just three days.
A portion of all-time favorite bands like the Pixies, Wilco, Shellac, Pavement, Built to Spill, Tortoise and Pet Shop Boys, as well as performances by low profile but talented bands, playlist staples of the most demanding musical insiders, like Gary Numan, Wild Beasts, Panda Bear or Marc Almond. It is impossible not to find something you like on the bill of this macro-festival.
But this is not the only charm of this incredible event, which will be held from the 27th to the 29th of May. If you can´t get a ticket, don´t worry, this city also captivates us with myriad attractions and musical alternatives to the Parc del Forum, with amazing performances by groups in outdoor clubs, bars, and even the occasional metro station in Barcelona. Don´t wait any longer to buy your ticket and to book comfortable accommodation, rent apartments in Barcelona.
