PhotoEspaña Photography Festival in Madrid

Time is the theme for the13th edition of the Photo España festival, which will run from June 9 until July 25 in Madrid, Cuenca and Lisbon. This year’s festival welcomes 372 photographers from 41 different countries, whose work is organized in 69 different exhibitions. The program promises to be fascinating, and features interactive activities such as “El Cielo de Madrid” and “The Night of the Picture.” Just think of the treasures your eyes will behold.

The ephemeral, the impact of time on nature, movement, the temporality of a work, the notion of archives, memories, differences between mobile and fixed images are some of the many themes Photoespaña 2010 will address, guided by the general topic “Time.” Because if there is an artistic medium that questions the issue of time consistently, it’s photography, which writes its record of time with the light

The public will be invited not only to visit museums, galleries, art centres and exhibition halls but also to participate and experience the temporal dimension of the photo. On June 17, the event “El Cielo de Madrid”, offers anyone with time, desire and a digital camera a chance to participate in a photographic marathon, and take an original look at Gran Vía from the top of several buildings.

Another popular event is “The Night of the Picture” on June 18, which invites the general public to invade the streets of Madrid looking for an innovative image from18h to 22h. Of course, there will be prizes, shows and prizes for participants. And some places will be open until midnight that evening.
