Eyebrow transplants – the lastest fashion

Mmmmm…people don’t get tired of suffering in order to look constantly and impeccably perfect at all times. Liposuctions here, a little shot of botox there, a little bit of nip and tuck over there… Well, so now there is another trend among women and men (don’t forget they are also very vain): eyebrow transplants. Surgeons remove more than 400 hairs from the scalp and implant each follicle into the browline, where it will grow as normal. This operation costs around 3.900 euros.

Different brows for different decades

Eyebrows are an essential part of the face because they contribute to its symmetry and beauty. Maybe the first time women took care of their eyebrows was in 1930’s, when they practically erased them and drew a thin line with a pencil. Surely you remember Greta Garbo’s and Bette Davies’ almost invisible eyebrows.
In the 1980s, strong, wide and careless brows were fashionable, shown off by celebrities such as Brooke Shields and Madonna.

But it took only ten years for the situation to make a U-turn, again. In the 1990s, the latest trend was over-styled, pencil thin brows like those sported by stars such as Christina Aguilera and Pamela Anderson.
Men too began plucking their eyebrows and even shaving ‘tramlines’ into their eyebrows, like Hotspurs’ footballer Aaron Lennon, besides many rappers and basketball players.

Now, in XXI century, the fuller look – favoured by the likes of Keira Knightley and Emma Watson – is back in fashion and sparse brows are frowned upon. A natural and non-artificial look, with a lot of personality. That’s cool…at least, for now.
