Summer Cocktails

I wanted to briefly explain the origins of the cocktail, but there are as many versions of history as there are recipes for cocktails, just know that they are an American invention and that we are thirsty! All I want is to enjoy them in good company and enjoy their preparation…Shake it!

The Mojito (Cuba)

All you need is a few mint leaves, lime juice, a teaspoon of sugar, crushed ice and of course, a healthy serving of rum! Mix everything together, leave the mint leaves as they are, and serve in a short, wide glass with a straw to help crush the leaves. Super cool!

The Cosmopolitan (Sex and the City)

To begin, you must find the correct vessel, which looks like a wine glass but with a triangle-shaped bowl. Then fill it with the following ingredients:
Vodka 4 cl, 1.5 cl Triple Sec, 1.5 cl cranberry juice and a dash of lemon pulco. The recipes vary … some include Cointreau, black currant cream, with or without ice, with a slice of lime or more vodka. Find the one that suits your taste!

Sangria (Spain)

This drink is ideal for a collective aperitif, because it’s served in a huge pitcher with a giant spoon and everyone serves themselves. Red wine, liquor or brandy, fruit, water and sugar are the main ingredients. You can throw in cubed, ripe oranges, lemons, peaches, apricots, pears, pineapples, apples, for maximum aroma. Add some flavour with a hint of vanilla, nutmeg, ginger, cloves or cinnamon sticks … whatever you want, or following the advice of a native! Let it chill in the refrigerator for an hour before serving.

Our only advice is to drink responsibly, and make sure to choose a good spot to enjoy your cocktail! You can escape to Barcelona; you’ll find charming cocktail bars like Boadas right on the edge of the Ramblas. Or you can try out Ascensor, with its intimate, cabaret tinged atmosphere.
