The ideal sexual experience lasts 10 minutes

While millions of people around the world might laugh when they hear the results of this study, the reality is that researchers studying sex have results that back up their assertion that the best sex lasts for 10 minutes. Yes, if you thought you had to be a tireless tantric lover like Sting trying out new love making techniques for hours, you were wrong.

How long is perfect sex? Countless people have asked this question over the course of history and now a group of researchers at the Society for Sex Therapy and Research decided to conduct an investigation to reveal the answer.

As I have said in the first paragraph, the result, which was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, is 10 minutes. Neither more nor less. But what matters is why. The problem is that if it lasts longer it becomes boring, but if it lasts less time it would be unsatisfactory.

How did they do? In order to find the answer, Eric Corty and Jenay Guardiani, two researchers from the Behrend College in Pennsylvania, interviewed 50 sex therapists of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research United States and Canada who gave numerical values for the ideal time spent having sex they typically heard from their patients.

Most answers fell into these categories:

* Acceptable: Between 3 and 7 minutes.
* Desirable: Between 7 and 13 minutes.
* Too short: 1 to 2 minutes.
* Too long: between 10 and 30 minutes.

So now you know. If you want to rent apartments in Paris, the most romantic city in the world, don’t hold back. And feel confident if you enjoy relations which last between seven and 13 minutes, without a doubt you are doing great in the sack!
