The soft caress of a second skin

Latex enthusiasts (sometimes called “rubberists”) say that latex clothing stimulates all five senses at once: it has a very particular and nice smell, a strong but strangely arousing taste, a distinctive fluttering sound, it creates gorgeous visual effects… And, above all, touch: latex clothing tightly worn is like a second skin that massages and caresses the whole body at once.

At the beginning of 2001, some Spanish latex enthusiasts and rubber fans started to gather around a dedicated Yahoo chat channel. They had lots of information to share (from advice on the best places to buy latex clothing, to the best way to wash a rubber bra), and they started to organize meetings, parties and events with latex dress code. With the passage of the years, the community kept growing at a slow but sustained pace, until a full-fledged cultural association was founded in 2004. Two years later they opened a private club in Barcelona, to be used as a gathering point for all Fosk members. Recently the Fosk hosts organized in their premises an “open doors” day that included a latex flea market, some shows and performances by local BDSM practitioners and a quite impressive vacuum-bed demonstration. It was a good opportunity to buy latex clothing from them at good prices: their products are always very high quality and not all of them are available for online purchasing.

Some of the activities and events organized by Fosk are very useful for making the pleasures of latex clothing more popular to a wider audience: for instance, their yearly photographic competition (“Concurso de Fotografía Fetichista Fosk”) always attracts many photographers and models from all over Europe. The pictures allowed in the contest can show any kind of fetishism, BDSM practice or erotic situation, with the only condition that latex must be somehow an important part of the image. Each year the photographies become more spectacular and the artists more creative, as the prize is getting higher: 600€ for the first prize and rising. All participant photographies are exhibited during some weeks in the BDSM private club Rosas 5, making that exhibition a real “must-see” for every latex enthusiast in Barcelona.
