The ghostly beauty of abandoned places PART 2

Recently I spoke about one of the hottest hobbies that has developed in recent years: the urban exploration of abandoned places. Crumbling factories, abandoned prisons, uninhabited villages: they have a special charm, fruit of the very human attraction to the strange beauty of the decadent and post apocalyptic.

There are many photographers who have wisely used the morbidity of abandoned places to take very torrid photographs. Many factors explain the unique beauty of this type of erotic photographs, but perhaps the most important is the contrast between the youth and freshness of the models against the decline of the environment. German fetish photographers like Calvat have known how to perfectly capture this beauty. One well known series of photographs shows beautiful models in unoccupied industrial sites. Calvat depicts in these pictures a perfect command of light and colour and a highly developed sense of morbid curiosity, based on the contrasts between the flexibility of the body of the model and the stiffness of the industrial metal and brick, between the smoothness of rough skin and dirt from pipes, wheels and gears …

In Madrid, Zor fetish is one of the best followers of this aesthetic, and visitors to his last exhibition (held in Madrid’s Café-Club Underwood) were able to enjoy some truly spectacular images.
These photographers tend to keep secret the locations of their favourite abandoned places, to avoid overcrowding … But it is possible to get them to reveal their secrets if you ask politely. So my advice if you want to initiate in the world of decadence scouting is to invite them to a few beers; loosen up their tongues with your generosity and they may share their secrets with you! Begin renting apartments in Madrid and looking for them in galleries and exhibitions …
